Prix Title Sponsorship
Prince has extended its
association as 'Official Racket' of the English
Grand Prix - Birmingham 2007 to become title sponsors of the
5-star PSA World Tour squash championship which will
attract the world's leading players to the UK in September.
The Prince English Grand Prix - Birmingham 2007 will be
held at the Edgbaston Priory Club and
University of Birmingham from 6-9 September.
Launched by sports management company internationalSPORTgroup,
the Prince English Grand Prix - Birmingham 2007 will boast a $50,000
prize fund and will be supported by a full programme of masters and
junior events which are expected to attract over four hundred
competitors.
"This is an excellent new addition to the World Tour calendar in the UK
and, having already agreed to become the tournament's official racket, I
went back to promoter Paul Walters to offer Prince as the title
sponsor," explained Bob Johnson, Sales and Marketing
Director of Solo Sports UK Ltd, the brand's
distributors in the UK.
"I'm delighted that we have agreed this new status and I look forward to
working closely with Paul and his colleagues at internationalSPORTgroup
to deliver a major squash success."
Walters added: "The elevation of Prince to title sponsor is an
unexpected and welcome boost for the championships which will bring a
major international squash championships to Birmingham for the first
time since 2002 when the city hosted the British Open.
"The Prince English Grand Prix - Birmingham 2007 will
be staged in the heart of Birmingham with the support of hosting
sponsors the University of Birmingham and
Edgbaston Priory Club, together with Birmingham City
Council and Marketing Birmingham as part of a
four-year programme which will culminate in the Birmingham staging the
2010 British Open, the world's most prestigious and
longest-established event in world squash."
