Getting ready ...     print as Daily News

The Hong Kong Squash Centre was a hive of activity today as the final preparations were made for the 22nd Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Open.

the Bus stop right outside the centre ...Posters were going up all over the place as court five was converted into the press office  (not to worry, there are still plenty left) with Press Officer Iris Chung commandeering an army of volunteers, and the players names were going up on the giant draws.

The players are here too of course, just a few left to make their way from Qatar, with qualifying set to start at 13.00 tomorrow (men's draw at noon).

With the withdrawal of Ramy Ashour following his ankle injury sustained in Qatar, and the ominous form shown by Amr Shabana in Saudi and Doha, a hat-trick of Hong Kong wins for the world number one looks a distinct possibility - although when was the last time any man won three major events in a row ?

In the women's event Nicol David shrugged off defeats in Manchester and Madrid to collect her second Qatar Classic title of the year (April's event was the postponed 2006 edition, remember), and a Hong Kong hat-trick also beckons for the Malaysian superstar.

There's a long way to go until we know about that ... let's just take it one round at a time for now ...
